This Doctor of Philosophy by publications, I review the research in which I have been engaged over the period 2001-2013 and the 13 articles that constitute this submission. These focus on technology in music education and in music teacher education. The PhD reflects upon research carried out in three distinct phases: • within the InterActive Education: Teaching and Learning in the Information Age (TLRP, undated) • in the context of roles within international organisations: Music Education Network (meNet) (Institute für Music Pädagogik Wien, undated) and the European Association for Music in Schools (EAS), and • in relation to my role as a teacher educator.The corpus of work both problematises and sheds light upon classroom music composing using technology within English primary and secondary schools; it highlights the chief concerns of trainee music teachers in England when using technology in the music classroom particularly around questions of infrastructure and professional support; it provides a wide range and depth of data concerning music education policy and practice across Europe, particularly in relation to music technology; and it illustrates the potential that technology holds to open up novel and equitable ways of music making for children in the 21st century.<br/
