Phased array calibration is essential to ensure accuratearray radiation performance. This paper proposes animproved calibration method based on complex signals in ananechoic chamber for phased arrays that can only operatein its default beam-steering mode with limited beam-steeringangular ranges. The basic principle is to convert the arrayfactors associated with the multi-probe locations into the beamsteeringfactors of the array, which can virtually widen the beamsteeringangular range. The broadened angular range can lowerthe condition number of the phase setting matrix and thereforeimprove the calibration accuracy. Both theoretical derivationsand measurement validation are provided to demonstrate theeffectiveness and enhancement of the proposed method
