Investigation of the performance of antennas for interference detection in aircraft

Abstract

Interference with aircraft navigation and communication (NAV/COM) systems caused by spurious radiation of airborne electronic equipment can be avoided by the detection of threatening field levels in the cabin. This paper investigates the performance of leaky-line and long-wire antennas for interference detection purposes. Analysis is made on measurements performed in an Open Area Test Site, a Reverberation Chamber, and in research aircraft. The coupling to the interference detection antennas is compared to the coupling to NAV/COM systems in aircraft
