Articles from 2013-present have been downloaded over21,600 times with over 6500 downloads in 2020 from 152countries and 2141 institutions worldwide. The journal ispublished by the PSA Editorial Board in the University LibrariesInstitutional Repository.Political Analysis Editor in Chief, senior Marlene Da Cruz,describes her experience of pulling this journal together duringCOVID-19. Da Cruz and the Pi Sigma Alpha editorial boardbegan early preparation of the 2020 issue at the end of the 2019> >TweetShareLike 24fall semester. Once the spring semester began in January, emailswere sent out to students and faculty within the PoliticalScience Department for paper submissions.Coming back to campus after spring break, everything changed.Due to the coronavirus pandemic, classes were switched toonline, yet this student team was still responsible for creatingthe annual issue of Political Analysis. The editorial process of thejournal was challenging but the editorial board worked closelythrough email with political science faculty members. Despitethe challenge that the virus perpetuated with students movingo  campus, in some cases abruptly, this year's issue of thejournal was a success. In fact, the journal issue was publishedearlier than expected in April, instead of May. Instead ofworking on campus, the editorial board was working betweenSouth Orange, Upstate New York, and Jersey City wherestudents had relocated to.New articles in the 2020 issue include:"Why Do States Acquire Nuclear Weapons? A TheoreticalFramework in Assessing Nuclear Proliferation in Israel, Iranand Saudi Arabia" by Marlene Da Cruz (47 downloads, 13countries)"The Politics of Sports" by Samantha Russo (25 downloads, 7countries)"Understanding How Foreign In uence and StrongmanPolicies Prevent Democracy in Egypt" by Devin Smith (10downloads, 8 countries)"An Analysis of Burden Sharing in NATO and the Problem ofFree Riding" by Anthony Zannella (12 downloads, 8 countries)As of April 22, Da Cruz's article already has 47 downloads in 13countries including China, Austria, Canada, United Kingdomand Turkey. The articles were posted and archived in GoogleScholar a few weeks ago.The statistics gathered from the journal analytics dashboard canhelp guide the direction of the journal, according to Da Cruz.These statistics include the country, the institution and thenumber of times a speci c article was downloaded. Thisinformation is valuable for the future of Political Analysisbecause it gives the next Editorial Team the ability to havestatistical metrics regarding article readership. Additionally,these statistics provides valuable knowledge that can be utilizedto create a strategic plan to increase worldwide readership ofPolitical Analysis in the future.Da Cruz stated that acquiring paper submissions for PoliticalAnalysis has been the most challenging aspect of the journal.This is not because students do not want to submit their papers,but often times students are unaware that the opportunity to getpublished at the undergraduate level exists. What has helpedsolicit submissions from students is by advertising the journalwithin the Political Science Department and within the Collegeof Arts and Sciences. Reaching out to professors, posting  yerson campus, and speaking to students individually have becomesuccessful strategies to encourage students to submit theirpapers to the journal.Da Cruz is graduating with a Bachelors in Political Science inMay 2020. After graduation, she plans to work and then plans toapply to law school. She is thankful to have had the opportunityto serve as both President and Executive Editor in Pi SigmaAlpha. She collaborated with her editorial board that includedpolitical science majors, Patrick Carr, also graduating in 2020and Stephen Ho man, who will graduate in 2021. Thesepositions have contributed to Da Cruz's professional andpersonal growth at Seton Hall. Da Cruz has learned that hard-work, cooperation, and teamwork are the pillars thatcontributed to a successful publication and editorial teamsuccess these past two years while she was Executive Editor.Da Cruz and the editorial team are thankful to the faculty andsta  within the Political Science Department for all theirencouragement and guidance with Political Analysis. Da Cruzstates that the department encompasses extraordinaryprofessors who care about the growth and success of theirstudents. She wants to thank her professors for their kindness,support, and advice. More speci cally, she wants to give aspecial thank you to her advisor, Dr. Terence Teo, who hashelped make this journal a success.Dr. Terence Teo had high praise for Marlene. "Marlene is abright, independent, and motivated student. I'm proud of thehard work she has put it to make the journal a success in her twoyears as Editor in Chief, especially during this time. She leavesbehind a journal in outstanding shape, which showcases workthat blends careful analysis with contemporary practicalrelevance.
