Abstract

The cultivation of morality is a process to instill good qualities or commendable behavior, and can be applied in daily life. In an effort to cultivate morality, it cannot be done in a short time. The formulation of the problem in this study is what are the methods of inculcating morality in class VIII students at SMP Muhammadiyah 9 Gemolong and what are the obstacles and ways of handling in inculcating morality in class VIII students at SMP Muhammadiyah 9 Gemolong. This study aims to find out what the method of inculcating morality in class VIII students at SMP Muhammadiyah 9 Gemolong is. This research is a qualitative research using field research, namely examining the symptoms of education in the field and using a phenomenological approach with the object of research at SMP Muhammadiyah 9 Gemolong. The subjects of this study were the principal, PAI teacher, and class VIII at SMP Muhammadiyah 9 Gemolong. Data was collected using the methods of observation, interviews, and documentation. The techniques used in data analysis are data reduction, data modeling, and Conclusion Withdrawal/Verification. Triangulation is done to explain the validity of the data using various sources. The results of the research at SMP Muhammadiyah 9 Gemolong showed that the cultivation of morality was carried out by several methods, namely; 1) Habituation method 2) Exemplary method, 3) Punishment. The factors that hinder the implementation of the cultivation of morality are the factors of students and teachers. Factors from students, namely students' persistence and student conditions.
