In order to maintain its financial health in an increasinglycompetitive higher education environment, we must takeadvantage of our organizational structure as a system and look forways to collaborate. At the direction of the system presidents andthe USNH board of trustees, we have begun work to create aunified information technology (IT) operation. This will allow us toaddress the technology needs of all students, faculty and staffwhile facilitating efficiency and innovation.USNH has engaged Strata Information Group (SIG) to supportthis initiative. SIG is a leader in the provision of technologymanagement services supporting the complex needs of highereducation institutions, having worked with more than 450 collegesand universities domestically and internationally. This initiative willmove quickly but thoughtfully, beginning with datagathering/review and a series of onsite interviews anddiscussions. The interviewees will include personnel within andoutside of IT in order to get a clear sense of how IT services aredelivered on each campus.
