Abstract

Microangiopathic hemolytic anemia, elevated liver enzymes and low platelet count, also known as HELLP syndrome, is a rare complication of pregnancy with high maternal and fetal mortality. One of the most serious complications is a subcapsular liver hematoma. The diagnostic techniques used for diagnosis are ultrasound, CT and MRI. Hemodynamically stable patients should be treated conservatively and in cases of active bleeding with percutaneous embolization of the hepatic arteries.
