This work intends to analize in what manner the Royal Power tried to take part
in different matters of control on medical practice and how the valencian "foral"
institutions refused the intentions of the Royal Crown, that in Castile had achieved
its purposes creating the Tribunal del Protomedicato. Various outslanding
figures in the field of medical knowledge renewal in sixteenth century Hispanic
Monarchy, were nominated as «Protomédico» and «Sobrevisitador Real», for
all what was relaled to the art of medicine, surgery and pharmacology of the cily
and Kingdom of Valéncia, an office whose competence was in conflicl wilh the
