Philosophers of the Personalist Awakening: Karol Wojtyła and Tadeusz Styczeń

Abstract

Artykuł stanowi rekonstrukcję formowania się lubelskiej personalistycznej szkoły etyki w myśli Karola Wojtyły i Tadeusza Stycznia jako jego ucznia i kontynuatora. Personalizm w kulturze, a zwłaszcza w filozofii XX wieku, jest odpowiedzią na kryzys człowieczeństwa. Formułującnormę personalistyczną jako podstawową normę moralności, Wojtyła dokonał przebudowy etyki chrześcijańskiej. Rozwijał filozofię osoby, aby jeszcze głębiej odsłonić aksjologicznepodstawy etyki. Styczeń dokonał z kolei szeregu krystalizacji metaetycznych: uściślił pojęcie doświadczenia moralnego jako macierzystej sytuacji etyki, przedstawiał personalizm jakokonsekwentny intuicjonizm etyczny i wreszcie uściślał pojęcie etyki niezależnej w krytycznym i twórczym dialogu z myślą etyczną Tadeusza Kotarbińskiego i Tadeusza Czeżowskiego.This article is a reconstruction of the emergence of the Lublin personalist school in Ethics in the thought of Karol Wojtyła and Tadeusz Styczeń, who was his disciple and follower. Personalism in culture, and especially in the philosophy of the 20th century, is the answer to the crisis of humanity. Formulating the personalist norm as the fundamental norm of morality, Wojtyła accomplished a transformation of the Christian Ethics. In order to reveal the deeper axiological roots of Ethics he was developing the studies on the philosophy of a person. Styczeń accomplished significant categorisations in Metaethics. He precisely defined the concept of the moral experience as the underlying situation in Ethics, he presented personalism as consistent ethical intuitionism, and finally he clarified the concept of Autonomous Ethics through critical and creative dialogue with the ethical thought of Tadeusz Kotarbiński and Tadeusz Czeżowski
