For more information, please contact archives@umw.edu. -American and Japanese men were secretly filmedwhile watching either an emotionally neutralnature video or one depicting bodily mutilation.  -Researchers anticipated that Japanese men wouldshow an appall response to the mutilation filmwhen alone however would stifle it when someoneelse was available.  In contrast, the Americans were expected tocommunicate their feelings whether they were bythemselves or around people. W.(2017). Social psychology: Core conceptsand emerging trends. Sage., thehypothesis was shown to be supported bythe research of how different culturescoming together could have rules thatwere not previously displayed for physicaland/or emotional expressions. (C. M.Moran, Diefendorff, & Greguras, 2013).Findings and Correlation toRelevance-A group of bank representatives from Californiawere in a conference room with colleagues thatwere born and raised in Africa, the middle eastand Asia, working in Morocco.    Example (business related) -As their colleagues were speaking on the matter oftheir topic, the group of colleagues from Californiawere blatantly and subconsciously expressing theirfeelings through their facial expression.  The workers in Morocco felt disrespected andmocked because in their culture, they supress theiremotional expression around others.  The Californians had no intention of doing thisbut it was because they were unaware of theculture rules, the meeting was unsuccessful.
