Dr. Peterson Warner Robins Air Logistics Center Educational Partnership Agreement Wednesday, May 23, 2012 • I am very pleased to be here to finalize the educational partnership agreement between Georgia Tech and Warner Robins Air Logistics Center.  This is a very important initiative that will foster collaboration between our organizations. • Georgia Tech is proud to encourage and enhance study in scientific disciplines. We are deeply engaged.  Through Georgia Tech Professional Education, the Georgia Tech Research Institute, the College of Engineering, the School of Aerospace Engineering, and many other colleges and departments at Georgia Tech, we are truly committed to providing education and working with Warner Robins Air Logistics Center. • We know that the State of Georgia has one of the largest populations of military members within the U.S.  We must serve them better, and this agreement is one important step in doing so. • This agreement is just the beginning.  Through Georgia Tech Professional Education, we will be able to provide more educational opportunities to Warner Robins Air Logistics Center. • Robins Air Force Base personnel will be able to enroll at Georgia Tech to further their education. They will have the ability to take continuing education courses and formal degree programs for academic credit that will directly relate to their employment and mission at the base. • As the dean of Georgia Tech Professional Education, Nelson Baker will manage this partnership.  The Professional Education division has locations in Atlanta and Savannah, and offers courses and programs around the world.  The division serves more than 13,000 individuals and 3,100 companies, with an overall enrollment of 23,000 students on an annual basis. The resources available through Professional Education and Georgia Tech are vast, and we are pleased to share them with Robins Air Force Base. • Dr. Baker has been working with the University System of Georgia’s Military Taskforce to enhance relationships between the USG and military bases within the State of Georgia. Their goal is to provide improved educational opportunities to the military.   • One of the first initiatives planned for this summer is a conference with military base commanders located in Georgia. Ongoing communication to discuss and learn about their needs will be critical in future educational planning.  General McMahon has been instrumental in working with us to plan this event.  At this time, I would like to thank him for his dedication and leadership in this initiative as well as his ongoing support of Georgia Tech. • The Professional Education division will also be hiring a Military Academic Program Director. This person will focus on developing programs and courses geared for the branches of the military and its active duty and transitioning forces. This person will work with leadership at Robins Air Force Base to provide an extra layer of service and focus. • Georgia Tech looks forward to deepening our relationship with Warner Robins Air Logistics Center.
