No
The child as subject of rights, within the context of international and national legislation, has
the right to participate and to be heard in the proceedings that concern to him. However, it is
known that if the hearing is not well conducted properly, it can cause secondary victimization.
Bearing in mind the best interests of the child and their respective rights, and with a intention
to minimizing the damages resulting from the child's contact with the Portuguese Judicial
System, the general objective of the present study was to develop, implement and evaluate
training for Portuguese Magistrates, with a view to raising awareness in the hearing of
children and adolescents. After a needs assessment, a training program and its evaluation
were designed and implemented in a quasi-experimental design (before training: NIG = 68,
NCG = 22, after training, NIG = 43, NCG = 16). As expected, the results showed significant
differences in the intervention group (IG), from the pre-test to the post-test moment, both in
terms of knowledge and skills, with an increase of knowledge in 33.3% of the 64.3% in terms
of skills. This study is therefore innovative in that it seeks not only to have developed specific
training on hearing for Magistrates, but also to include an evaluation of it
