Moreover, this paper describe the characteristics of western chintz with a figure as a motif including 25 western chintz in the Kyoritsu Women\u27s University Museum. It became clear that most of them can be divided into the following three groups: those with landscape themes, those with themes from works of art, and those with political themes. In this paper, we especially examine those with themes from works of art and those with political themes. About those with themes from works of art, some were affected by literature and drama that had just came out at the time, while others were influenced by neoclassicism. It seems that this phenomena is associated with excavation of Pompeii. About those with a political subject, they have changed how the politicians are depicted before and after French Revolution.According to these results, it was concluded that there were cases where the themes of western chintz reflected interest and symbolic events of the times
