Rayleigh brillouin scattering and molecular disorder in glassy crystals and molecular glasses

Abstract

We review some results obtained from the Rayleigh-Brillouin study of disordered solids. Acoustic anomalies observed in crystals with an increasing amount of orientational disorder β€” doped crystals, solid solutions and glassy crystals β€”, as well as in molecular glasses are presented. It is shown that RB scattering is an efficient way of getting information on the dynamics of glass-forming liquids and of glasses
