The most thorough scientific achievements of scientists are presented, which argue the importance of studying this phenomenon in the practice of policing. The aim of the study is to examine police perceptions of lies in relation to psychoprotective behavior with different levels of personality’s fulfillmentity (PF). The empirical basis of the study was 82 police officers. The results obtained by the method of «Questionnaire of Personality’s Fulfillmentity» by O. Shtepa with the help of clustering by the method of k – means allowed to form respondents according to three criteria. The first group included police officers with a low level of PF – 32 persons; the second group with a high level of PF was 27 persons. The medium level of PF have 23 police officers who were removed from further research. To achieve this goal, we used the method of «Types of lies» by I. Shkuratova and the questionnaire «Lifestyle Index» by R. Plutchik, G. Kellerman and H. R. Conte. The correlation between the different types of lies and the mechanisms of psychological protection showed a sufficient number of relationships in both groups of police officers with different levels of health. It has been found that police officers with low-level of PF use lies as psychological protection when seeking to protect themselves from negative and stressful events, often compensating for their own personality and behavioral shortcomings by tending to embellish and impart qualities they often lack. In police officers with high-level of PF, lies can reduce and displace unpleasant and traumatic events that cause them psychological suffering, while they pay less attention to ethics of communication and behavior, do not prefer to participate in gossip at work and are less interested in information that is not related to professional activities, but seek to maintain their own authority and status in the team.
