Opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli tarkastella radiografian ja sädehoidon tutkinto-ohjelman opiskelijoiden kokemuksia opetuksen laadusta, Metropolia Ammattikorkeakoulussa. Sen erityisenä tavoitteena oli antaa tietoa ja palautetta radiografian ja sädehoidon opettajille ja oppilaitokselle. Pyrkimyksenä oli löytää vastaukset seuraaviin kysymyksiin: Miten opiskelijat kokivat opetuksen laadun? Miten he kokivat saamansa ohjauksen ja miten he kokivat eri opetusmenetelmät sekä opiskelumuodot?
Aineisto kerättiin E-lomakkeella, jonka ohjaavat tutoropettajat lähettivät opiskelijoille verkkolinkkinä tutor-kanavan kautta. Kyselyn otanta koostui tutkimuksen aikana Metropolian radiografian ja sädehoidon tutkinto-ohjelmassa opiskelevista, jotka olivat aloittaneet opintonsa syksyn 2015 ja kevään 2017 välillä. Otokseen eivät kuuluneet ne opiskelijat, jotka eivät vielä olleet aloittaneet ammatillisia opintojaan.
Tulokset analysointiin kvantitatiivisen aineiston analyysiin tarkoitetulla SPSS-ohjelmalla. Pivot-taulukkoa hyödyntäen tulokset eriteltiin tutkimusaihealueittain. Taulukointi tehtiin frekvenssitaulukointina eli vastausten lukumäärien jakaumalla sekä ristiintaulukoinnilla, joiden tarkoituksena oli tarkastella muuttujien jakautumista sekä niiden keskinäisiä yhtäläisyyksiä. Aineisto analysointiin objektiivisesti ja puolueettomasti.
Verrattaessa kategorioittain saatujen vastausten keskinäistä korrelaatiota saatiin sekä opetussuunnitelman että opetuksen suhteen melko samankaltaisia vastauksia. Valtaosa opiskelijoista oli sitä mieltä, että opetussuunnitelman tavoitteet ovat tiedossa ja selkeitä. Ohjauksen määrään taas oltiin vastausten perusteella jokseenkin tyytyväisiä. Puolet vastanneista opiskelijoista kokivat, että palautteen määrä ei ollut riittävää eikä tiedonkulku opiskelijoiden ja opettajien välillä ollut toimivaa.
Tutkimuksen aihe sekä tulokset ovat erittäin hyödyllisiä mittareita kertomaan, miten tutkinnon suunnittelu ja toteutus ovat onnistuneet. Toivomme, että tekemämme tutkimus antaa työkaluja koululle ja opettajille opintosuunnitelmaan liittyvien haasteiden ratkaisemiseen.The purpose of this final project was to examine students' experiences of the quality of teaching in the radiography and radiotherapy degree program at Metropolia University of Applied Sciences. Its specific goal was to provide information and feedback for radiography and radiotherapy teachers and educational institutions. The attempt was to find answers to following questions: How did the students experience the quality of teaching? How did they experience the guidance they received and how did they experience the various methods of teaching and forms of studying?
The material was collected with an E-form as a link which tutor teachers sent to the students through the Metropolia tutoring channel. The survey sample consisted of students in Metropolia's radiography and radiotherapy program who had started their studies between autumn of 2015 and spring of 2017. The survey sample did not include first year students.
The results were analyzed with the SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) program for quantitative analysis. The results were separated by research areas using pivot table. The tables were made as frequency tables, i.e. distribution of number of answers and cross tabulation for examining distribution of variables and variables' mutual similarities. The results were analyzed objectively and impartially.
When comparing the correlation between the answers by the categories, both curriculum and teaching resulted in quite similar results. The majority of students felt that the goals of the curriculum were known and clear. Regarding the amount of guidance, responses were somewhat satisfied. Half of the students either somewhat disagreed or disagreed on claim that the amount of feedback was sufficient and that the communication between students and teachers was effective. Regarding questions on project work, more than half of respondents either disagreed or somewhat disagreed.
The topic and results of the survey are very useful indicators to report how successful the design and implementation of degree program have been. We hope that the research we have made will provide tools for University of Applied Sciences and teachers to solve challenges regarding curriculum
