Opinnäytetyömme tavoitteena oli tukea kehitysvammaisten tietoteknistä osaamista ja lisätä heidän sosiaalisen median osallisuuttaan. Opinnäytetyömme tarkoituksena oli tuoda uutta sisältöä kehitysvammaisten päivä- ja työtoimintayksiköihin. Oman vapaa-ajan ja harrastusten valo- ja videokuvaaminen, sekä oman elokuvatarinan tuottaminen omista materiaaleista, antavat uuden tavan ilmaista itseään. Kehitysvammaiset tarvitsevat medialaitteiden hallintaan tukea ja selkokielisiä ohjeita. Kehittämistyö toteutettiin yhteistyössä Yes We Can -hankkeen kanssa, jossa mukana toimivat myös Saimaan ammattikorkeakoulu, Kaakkois-Suomen osaamiskeskus Socom, Laptuotesäätiö ja Etelä-Karjalan sosiaali- ja terveyspiiri
Eksote.
Opinnäytetyömme on tutkimuksellinen kehittämistyö, joka toteutettiin laadullisena tutkimuksena. Työn teoreettinen viitekehys käsittelee kehitysvammaisuutta, kehitysvammaisten asemaa ja historiaa. Lisäksi tarkastellaan kehitysvammaisten osallisuutta median käyttäjinä sekä omatekoisen elokuvan tuomia hyötyjä heidän vapaa-aikaansa. Käytännön tietopohja kerättiin osallistumalla sosiaalisen median työpajoihin kehitysvammaisten päivätoimintayksiköissä. Menetelminä käytettiin havainnointia ja videointia, kiinnittämällä huomio kehitysvammaisten erityisiin tarpeisiin uuden asian oppimisessa.
Tämän kehittämistehtävän tuotoksena tuotettiin kehitysvammaisille selkokielinen opasvideo oman elokuvan tekemiseen iPadin iMovie -ohjelmalla. Toisena tuotoksena tehtiin ohjaajille suunnattu kirjallinen opas, joka tukee ja tarkentaa opasvideota. Oppaiden avulla päivätoimintaan saatiin uutta sisältöä ja tietotekniikkaa voidaan hyödyntää entistä paremmin.The purpose of this functional thesis was to increase competences and participation for people with intellectual disabilities, by bringing new daytime activities for them. To filming a movie about your own daily life, or about your leisure time hobbies, gives more opportunities to express yourself. The target groups of this functional thesis were people with intellectual disabilities and their counselors at the South Carelian Social and Health Care Distric’s daytime activity units. This thesis was carried out with Yes We Can -project which was involved the Saimaa University of Applied Sciences and the South-Eastern Finland Centre of Excellence on Social Welfare, briefly Socom Oy, Laptuote-foundation and the South Carelian Social and Health Care District Eksote. The project developed the work and daytime activities content according to wishes and needs.
The thesis was a qualitative action research. The methods used in the thesis were observation and video recording by participating in the social media workshops which were organized by the project. At workshops we specially took into account the special needs of the mentally handicapped’s to learn new things. Theoretical framework of this functional thesis deals people with intellectual disabilities, the status, work and history of disabled persons. In addition, the theoretical framework contains the mentally handicapped's participation as a media user, and the benefits they'll get for their leisure time by filming the own movie.
The results of this functional thesis were guidance video for how to make a movie with iPad’s iMovie application, by using plain language, for people with intellectual disabilities. Another material was a manual, which is for daytime activity counselors to supporting and refining the guidance video. Similarly plain language guidance video has not been made previously and aimed at the mentally handicapped. iPad’s are increasingly used in teaching and in daytime acitivities. A video guide has been seen to be necessary. Daytime units have a constant need for new forms of action
