Opinnäytetyöni käsittelee kolmiosaisen minisarjan ”Unohtuneet” tuotanto- ja käsikirjoitusprosessia. Toimin projektissa käsikirjoittajana, tuottajana, ensimmäisen jakson ohjaajana, näyttelijänä, catering-vastaavana sekä leikkaajana, äänisuunnittelijana ja musiikin säveltäjänä.
Esituotanto alkoi kesällä 2014. Sarja kuvattiin talven ja alkukevään aikana 2015. Työn kirjallinen osuus tarkastelee tuotantoa aina esituotannosta lopulliseen tuotokseen asti. Tutkin tarkemmin etenkin käsikirjoittajan roolia kussakin tuotannon vaiheessa. Pohdin mitä kaikkea käsikirjoitukselta ja käsikirjoittajalta vaaditaan, että tarina pysyy koossa läpi tuotannon muuttujien.
Vertailen alan ammattilaisten havaintoja, oppeja ja kertomuksia elokuvanteosta omiin kokemuksiini. Totesin ammattilaisten kokemusten monella tapaa peilaavan omiani, mutta yhtä lailla kokemuksemme myös eroavat toisistaan. Helppoja vastauksia en löytänyt, mikä johtuu tarinankerronnan ja tarinan luomisen henkilökohtaisesta luonteesta. Jokainen tekee tavallaan. Jokainen kertoo tarinan, kuinka itse sen parhaaksi näkee. Pääedellytys onnistuneen lopputuloksen saavuttamiseksi fiktiossa on tarinan ehdoilla toimiminen.My thesis deals with the production and screenwriting process of a three-part mini-series titled “Unohtuneet”. In addition to writing all three episodes, I worked on this project as a co-producer, actor, director (one episode), casting director, co-editor, co-sound designer and composer.
Preproduction on the project began in the summer of 2014. The series was shot during the winter of 2014 and early spring of 2015. The written portion of my thesis examines the production process from preproduction to the final product. I specifically address the role of the screenwriter in each stage of the production. I reflect what is required from the screenwriter and the screenplay in order to maintain a cohesive story throughout the variables of the production process.
I compare the perceptions, advice and narratives of industry professionals to my own experiences in filmmaking. I found the professionals’ experiences mirroring those of my own in many ways. On the other hand, I also found their thoughts to differ from mine. There were no easy answers to be found, due to the personal nature of the act of storytelling and story creation. Everyone does it in their own way. Everyone tells a story like they see fit. The main requirement of achieving a successful outcome in fiction is working by the terms of the story
