Kuvitusta hyödynnetään erilaisissa mediatuotteissa muun sisällön rinnalla. Kuvitus voi antaa tuotteelle houkuttelevamman ulkomuodon ja auttaa sisällön välittymisessä vastaanottajalle. Opinnäytetyössä on toteutettu kuvitusta interaktiiviseen puheterapiatyökalu Sanalankaan, joka on suunnattu 3–6-vuotiaille lapsille itsenäiseen käyttöön. Kohderyhmän vuoksi kuvituksella on tärkeä tehtävä kirjoitetun sisällön korvaajana ja käytettävyyden lisääjänä.
Työssä keskitytään pohtimaan, millä keinoin voidaan vaikuttaa siihen, että yhteys kuvituksen ja sen esittämien asioiden välillä on mahdollisimman selkeä. Kuvituksen toteutuksen tukena on käytetty alan kirjallisuutta ja semioottista kuva-analyysiä.
Tuloksena syntyi kuvitusta, jonka suunnittelussa ja toteutuksessa on hyödynnetty työn tieto-osioon koottua teoriaa.Illustrations are used in different types of media products alongside the other content. Illustration can enhance the appearance of the product and it can help with conveying the content to the recipient. Illustrations for the interactive speech therapy tool Sanalanka have been created for this thesis. Sanalanka is targeted for children aged 3–6 and is to be used independently by them. Considering the intended users, the illustrations have an important role as a replacement for written content and creating usability.
The thesis focuses on the different ways in which an illustrator can help make a connection between an illustration and the things it represents as clear as possible. Semiotic image analysis and the theory that has been included in this thesis have been used as support while creating the illustrations.
The results consist of illustrations that were designed and finished with the aid of the theory collected for this thesis
