Tämän opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli selvittää vanhempien käsityksiä ja ko-kemuksia osallisuudesta ja kasvatuskumppanuudesta varhaiskasvatuksessa. Tavoitteena oli myös tuottaa uusia ideoita Imatran varhaiskasvatukselle van-hempien osallisuuden lisäämiseksi. Webropol-kysely toteutettiin kahteen imatralaiseen päiväkotiin, kahden ryhmän vanhemmille. Selvityksemme oli sekä laadullinen että määrällinen, tiedonkeruu tapahtui osittain strukturoiduilla ja osittain avoimilla kysymyksillä.
Opinnäytetyömme teoriaosassa tarkasteltiin varhaiskasvatusta, osallisuutta sekä kasvatuskumppanuutta. Lisäksi pohdittiin vanhemmuutta sekä vanhempien ja kasvattajien yhteistyötä.
Selvityksessämme kävi ilmi, että osallisuus käsitteenä ei ole vielä kovin selkeä vanhemmille. Vanhemmat kokivat, etteivät voi osallistua päiväkodin toimintaan aikapulan ja voimavarojen puutteen vuoksi. Lisäksi vanhemmat kertoivat, ettei-vät he tiedä tarjolla olevia mahdollisuuksia osallistua varhaiskasvatuksen toi-mintaan. Kasvatuskumppanuuteen vanhemmat puolestaan olivat pääosin tyytyväisiä. Jatkoselvitys voisi olla kysely imatralaisten päiväkotien henkilökunnalle, jossa selvitettäisiin vanhempien osallisuutta ja kasvatuskumppanuutta koskevia asioita.The purpose of this study was to find out parents’ opportunities to participate into their children’s kindergarten activities in Imatra. The thesis also examines what parents understand by participation and educational partnership in early childhood education. The aim of the study was to find out new concrete ways and ideas how parents could participate more in the actions of kindergartens.
The theory of the study was based on early childhood education, collaboration with parents, participation and educational partnership in kindergarten. The information was gathered from literature and Internet. The data for this thesis were collected by an Internet inquiry. The questionnaire included both open and multiple choice questions. The study was quantitative and qualitative.
The results of the study show that parents in Imatra are quite satisfied with col-laboration with kindergarten’s staff and parents appreciate the educational partnership. However, the results showed that parents are not familiar with the concept of participation and inclusion. Based on the findings parents are not sure how they could be a part of the kindergarten’s actions. The subject for a further research could be an inquiry for kindergarten’s staff about parents’ participation and educational partnership in early childhood education
