Opinnäytetyön aiheena oli hoitotyön työnjako vuodeosastoilla. Työn tarkoituksena oli perehtyä ensin hoitotyön työnjaon historiaan sekä nykyisyyteen ja sen pohjalta pohtia, miten pystymme tarjoamaan laadukasta ja turvallista hoitoa kaikille potilasryhmille tulevaisuuden sairaalassa. Terveydenhuollon yleiset muutokset ja uudistukset, kasvavat potilasryhmät sekä henkilöstöresurssit vaativat hoitohenkilökunnalta vankkaa ja entistä laa-jempaa osaamista. Opinnäytetyön pääpaino on tiimityön ja yksilövastuisen hoitotyön eri variaatioissa vuodeosastoilla.
Opinnäytetyö toteutettiin kuvailevan kirjallisuuskatsauksen periaattein, tarkemmin työmme on narratiivinen yleiskatsaus. Opinnäytetyössä käytetty lopullinen aineisto haettiin Google Scholarista ja Medic-tietokannoista. Tutkimusten julkaisuvuodet rajattiin ajalle 2005-2015.
Kirjallisuuskatsauksen aineiston pohjalta voidaan todeta hoitotyön työnjaon käyneen ajan saatossa läpi monenlaista vaihetta. Potilas- ja tehtäväkeskeisistä malleista on kuljettu pitkä matka tiiminä ja työpareina tapahtuvaan yksilövastuiseen hoitotyöhön, jossa kuitenkin potilaslähtöisyyttä korostetaan. Sairaanhoitajan työkuva on muuttunut aikojen saatossa paljon, tulevaisuudessa tehtäväkuvat ovat entistä laajemmat ja ammattiosaami-sen tulee olla vankkaa laadukkaan ja turvallisen hoitotyön takaamiseksi. Sairaanhoitajan työ vuodeosastolla edellyttää tiimityötaitojen lisäksi motivaatiota elinikäiseen oppimi-seen ja ammattitaidon kehittämiseen, tässä myös työyhteisön muut jäsenet ja osaston-hoitaja ovat tärkeässä roolissa.The topic of the thesis was the distribution of nursing work on the wards. The purpose of the thesis was to explore the history and the present of nursing work distribution and, on this basis, reflect on how to provide high quality and safe nursing for every patient group in the future hospital. The general changes and reforms of health care, growing patient groups and human resources demand very strong and comprehensive competence from the health care professionals. The main focus of the thesis was on the variations of teamwork and primary nursing on the wards.
The thesis was implemented as a descriptive literature review, or, more specifically, the thesis was a narrative overview. The final material of the thesis was collected from the Google Scholar and Medic databases. The publication dates of the research articles were limited to the period between 2005 and 2015.
Based on the material of the literature review it could be discovered that the distribution of nursing work has gone through a variety of stages through the years. It has been a long journey from patient- and task-centered nursing to team- or work-pair-based primary nursing where patient orientation is emphasized. The job description of a nurse has changed greatly during the years, and in the future it will be even more comprehensive. Moreover, professional competence has to be strong in order to guarantee high quality and safe nursing. Nursing work on the wards demands not only teamwork skills but also motivation to learn and improve one’s competence, and in this the whole work commu-nity and the head nurse also play important roles
