Opinnäytetyö tehtiin Andritz Hydro Oy:lle, joka on vesivoimalaitosten koneita ja laitteita tuottava Itävaltalainen yritys. Työn tuloksena syntyi työturvallisuusohje suljettujen tilojen työhön. Säiliötyöhön verrattavaa suljettujen tilojen työtä tehdään vesivoimalaitoksen vesiteissä koneistojen peruskorjauksien yhteydessä.
Työohje tehtiin, sillä yrityksen olemassa oleva ympäristö-, terveys- ja turvallisuusohjeistuksessa ei juurikaan otettu huomioon erityisesti suljettujen tilojen työtä, joka on vaarallista työtä. Työohjeen tarkoituksena on lisätä työturvallisuutta,vähentää työtapaturmia ja pitää tapaturmataajuus alhaisena Andritz Hydro Oy:ssa Suomessa.
Työohje tehtiin yleiseksi ohjeeksi vesiteissä työskentelyyn eikä yksittäiseen suljettuun tilaan. Ohje tehtiin tutustumalla olemassa olevaan Andritz Hydro Oy:n työturvallisuusohjeisiin, lainsäädäntöön ja viranomaisohjeisiin sekä perehtymällä vesivoimalaitoksen vesiteiden työturvallisuusriskitekijöihin keskustelemalla asiantuntijoiden kanssa ja vierailemalla vesivoimalaitoksen vesiteissä huoltotyömaalla.
Työn tuloksen syntyivät työ- ja toimintaohjeet Vesivoimalan koneistojen peruskorjaus: työturvallisuusohjeistus vesiteissä työskentelyyn ja Kemikaalien ja vaarallisten jätteiden käsittely työmailla.
Työohjeet tulivat tarpeeseen yrityksessä, vaikka asentajatyöntekijät ovatkin kokeneita. Ohjeet ovat kaikkien Andritz Hydro Oy:n työntekijöiden saatavilla yhtiön intranetissä. Niitä voi käyttää tulevaisuudessa uusien työntekijöiden perehdytykseen, ja koulutukseen ja ne otetaan käyttöön jo seuraavilla työmailla.This bachelor’s thesis was commissioned by Andritz Hydro Ltd in Finland. Andritz Hydro is an Austrian company that produces machinery and equipment for hydropower plants. The product of the work was an occupational safety guide for working confined space. Confined space work is typical for people working in tanks and containers and it is also done in the waterways of a hydro power plant by people carrying out renovation work on the machinery.
An occupational safety guide was done, since the existing environment, health and safety plans in the company didn’t consider confined space work, which is hazardous work. The purpose of the occupational safety guide is to increase occupational safety, decrease occupational accidents, and to keep the accident rate on a zero level in Andritz Hydro Ltd in Finland.
The occupational safety guide has been designed to be a universal guide to working in water ways and is not restricted to a specific confined space. Background information for the guide was obtained by studying the existing Andritz Hydro safety instructions, Finnish legislation and official regulations and by getting familiar with the occupational safety risks of work in the waterways by discussing the matter with the experts at Andritz Hydro and visiting hydropower plant waterways that were under renovation.
Products of the work were two separate guides: Hydroelectric power plant renovation: Health and safety guide for work in confined spaces and Handling of chemicals and hazardous wastes on a work site. Even though the mechanics at Andritz Hydro were experienced, the new guides were needed. Now the guides are available to everybody working at Andritz Hydro through the company’s intranet. They can be used for orientation and training of new personnel, and they will be used already at the next renovation site the company works on
