Verkkokaupat ovat yleistyneet vähittäiskauppamuotona ja muokanneet kaupankäynnin
mekanismeja.
ja muotivillityksien määrä on kasvanut.E-commerce has become more common in retail and it has shaped the trading mechanisms.
Nowadays retail trade is no longer local; competition takes place in the international
markets and in addition, geographical boundaries no longer prevent customers seeking for
products to meet their needs.
The aim of this thesis was to determine whether the growth of e-commerce has had an
impact on fashion trends and to transition from different trend groups to another. The starting
point of the research was to understand who the customers for online retailers are –
influence on the trends and the way they spread.
The theoretical part is formed from online retailers’ statistics among a variety of related
studies and articles. Diamond Shaped Trend Model developed by Henrik Vejlgaard illustrated
trends transition in study. The study also comments concepts e.g. fad, fashion and
classic, and the impact of these to e-commerce.
Two theme interviews were carried out to support the theoretical part and to confirm conclusions.
Interviewed persons work closely with trends and are experts on their fields.
Based on the results found in the study, we can state that the Internet has enormously
eased the fashion and trends follow-up. Online stores have brought products to everyone’s
reach, which has accelerated the speed of trends transition from a trend group to another
and increased the amount of fads
