Tämän opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena on tutkia sosionomin identiteettiä, kun koulutuk-sen vaihtoehtoisina ammattiopintoina on kuvataideterapia. Toisena mielenkiinnon kohteena on taiteen tekemisen vaikutus ammatti-identiteetin ja ammattiroolien rakentajana sekä sosionomin ja terapeuttisen työn tekemisessä. Tarkoituksena on selvittää myös tutkijan omia ajatuksia ammatti-identiteetin muuttumisesta kuvataideterapiakoulutuksen myötä.
Opinnäytetyössä käytetään laadullista tutkimusotetta ja aineiston analyysimenetelmänä on käytetty laadullista sisällön analyysiä. Tämä työ muodostuu teoriaosasta ja tutkimusosuudesta. Teoriaosuuteen on kerätty aineistoa alan tutkimuksista, ammatti-identiteetin muodostumisesta ja kuvataideterapiasta. Tutkimuksen datasta osa koostuu kahdelle kuvataideterapeutille tehdystä puolistrukturoidusta haastattelusta. Näiden haastateltavien antamiin merkityksiin ja teemoihin tutkija peilaa omia ajatuksiaan.
Oma taiteellinen työskentely osoittautuu tärkeäksi osaksi kuvataideterapiaopintoja ja terapeuttina toimimista. Omakohtaiset kokemukset omasta kuvan tekemisestä, kuva-taideterapeuttisista työpajoista ja omista koulutusterapiaryhmistä vahvistavat sosionomin kuvataideterapeuttista ammatti-identiteettiä. Opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena on myös tehdä kuvataideterapeuttista toimintaa tunnetuksi ja välittää tietoa lukijoille taiteen tekemisen terapeuttisesta merkityksestä.The purpose of this thesis is to study the identity of a bachelor of social services, when art therapy is the alternative orientation of the education. Another point of in-terest is the influence of doing art as building the professional identity, the profession of bachelor of social services and therapeutic work. The aim is also to clarify re-searcher’s own thoughts about the influence of art therapy education to the professional identity.
The thesis is a qualitative study and a qualitative content analysis has been used in analyzing the material. The thesis consists of a theory section and an empirical part. The theoretical material has been gathered by using the studies of this field and utilizing the theories of building up professional identity and art therapy. Two art therapists have been interviewed for the empirical part of the research. The thesis reflects these meanings and themes brought up by the interviewees.
One very important par of art therapy studies and acting as a therapist is one’s own artistic work. The most important means of strengthening the professional identity of the bachelor of social services are subjective experience of making art, of art therapy workshops and own education therapy groups.
