Clinical effect of thiophenicol with small dose for the treatment of urinary tract infections

Abstract

Twenty-seven patients with various urinary tract infect i o ns were treated with Thiophenicol. The dosages were 100 mg 3 times daily for 3 to 5 days. In patients with acute cystitis, Thiophenicol was noted t o be effective in 16 out of 17 cases. In 4 cases of acute pyelonephritis, Thiophenicol was effective in all cases. In chronic urinary tract infections, consisted of 3 cases of chronic cy s titis and 3 cases of chronic pyelonephritis, Thiophenicol was noted effective in 4 out of 6 cases. No side effect was observed in all cases. As a conclusion, we believe that Th i ophenicol with a dose of 300 mg was effective not only for acute cystitis and pyelonephritis, but also for chronic urinary tract infections
