Abstract
We determined the blood concentration and urina r y excretion volume of a new sulfamide "Merian", and, as the results, confirmed that it is a long acting sulfa drug. Besides, we administered the drug to 26 cases of urinary infections diseases and the results were 7 cases of complete cure (26.9%), 13 effective cases (50%) and 6 non-effective cases (23.1%). In the trial for prophylaxis of infection we used it for 39 cases in all of which we could obtain the satisfactory preventive effects. Regarding its side-action, it was observed only in two cases (3.1%) out of the whole 65. We believe that "Merian" is not only an excellent drug to urological infections but also can be used as an excellent prophylactic in view of its long-acting nature
