Opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli tehdä saattohoidon toteuttamissuunnitelma Leväsen palvelukeskukselle. Opinnäytetyön toimeksiantaja on Kuopiossa sijaitseva Leväsen palvelukeskus, joka tarjoaa palveluita kuopiolaisille ikäihmisille. Palvelukeskus on pitkäaikaishoitolaitos, joka on suurimmalle osalle asukkaistaan viimeinen koti. Leväsen palvelukeskuksella suunnitellaan saattohoidon toteuttamiseen uutta toimintamallia. Mallin keskeinen ajatus on perehdyttää yhden palvelukeskuksen vuodeosaston henkilökunta saattohoidon erityisosaajiksi, jotka vievät osaamistaan ja tietouttaan muille osastoille. Tehtävänäni tässä opinnäytetyössä oli laatia ohje saattohoidon toteuttamisesta tukemaan Leväsen palvelukeskuksen uuden mallin suunnittelua.
Tässä opinnäytetyössä saattohoidolla tarkoitetaan elämän loppuvaiheen hoitoa, jossa parantumattomasti sairaalle potilaalle pyritään tekemään mahdollisimman turvallinen, arvokas ja kivuton loppuelämä. Hyvään ja laadukkaaseen saattohoitoon kuuluu perustarpeista huolehtimisen lisäksi myös potilaan psyykkisten tarpeiden ja toiveiden huomiointi. Myös omaiset ja heidän huomiointi on keskeinen osa saattohoidon toteuttamista.
Tähän opinnäytetyöhön on koottu tietoa hyvän saattohoidon toteuttamisesta, asioista joita tulee ottaa kuolevan potilaan hoidossa huomioon. Tärkeimpinä tiedonhaun lähteinä on käytetty jo olemassa olevaa kirjallisuudesta saatua tietoa saattohoidosta ja sen toteuttamisesta Suomessa. Työssä on huomioitu hoitotyön näkökulma. Millaisia asioita vaaditaan ihmiseltä, joka työkseen hoitaa kuolevia ja mitkä ovat keinoja, joilla hoitaja kuoleman kohtaamisesta selviytyy.
Saattohoito-oppaassa on lyhyesti ja ytimekkäästi koottu asiat, joita tulee ottaa huomioon onnistuneessa hoidon toteutuksessa, niin potilaan kuin hoitajan näkökulmasta. Opas on tarkoitettu joka päiväseen käyttöön, ihmisille jotka työkseen toteuttavat saattohoitoa.The purpose of this thesis was to create a plan ready to actualize about palliative care for service centre in Levänen. The applicant of this thesis is the service centre in Levänen that offers services for elderly persons in Kuopio. The service centre is a long-term care institution which is, for the most of its clients, their last home. In the service centre in Levänen they are planning a new pattern for palliative care. The main idea is that one of the personnel in one of the wards of the service centre familiarize themselves properly with the pattern and then teach their expertise for the other wards. Goal in this thesis was to draw up a guide of palliative care to support the implementation of the new model Levänen service planning.
In this thesis palliative care is defined being the care for the last phase of life. The purpose of palliative care is to create as safe, valuable and pain-free life as possible for terminally ill patient. Both patient’s basic needs and psychic care belongs to a good and quality palliative care. It’s also essential to take relations account for achieving proper palliative care.
Information for this thesis is gathered about a proper palliative care, things that must be noticed in terminally ill patient’s care. The most important sources are already existing literature knowledge about palliative care and how it’s put into practice in Finland. There is a nursing point of view in this thesis: what kind of things required for a person who treats dying people for living? What are the methods to cope with as a nurse facing the death?
