Tämä opinnäytetyö esittelee seitsemän haastattelemaani ammattikorkeakouluopintonsa päättänyttä musiikin opiskelijaa ja heidän kokemuksiaan työelämän alkuvaiheista.
Näiden haastattelujen myötä voidaan päästä sisälle muusikon arkeen ja nähdä erilaisia mahdollisuuksia sijoittua työelämään tänä päivänä.
Freelancemuusikko määrittelee keikkojen ja oppilaiden määrällä oman työmääränsä, vapaa-aikansa ja palkkansa. Hänellä on vapaus määrätä itse tekemisistään, mutta samalla hänen on oltava valppaana saadakseen töitä riittävästi.
Monet kokevat vaikeana sen, että muusikon palveluammatissa pitää olla yrittäjämäinen asenne ja yrittäjän taidot. Tulee osata mainostaa ja myydä omia taitojaan, löytää asiakkaita ja säilyttää jo hankittu asiakaskunta.
Koska freelancemuusikon tulot ovat epävakaat, kultaisen keskitien löytäminen työn ja vapaa-ajan välillä on vaikeata. Vaarana voi olla se, että freelancer haalii töitä yli voimavarojensa silloin, kun niitä on tarjolla.This study presents seven already graduated polytechnic music students and their experiences of their work life.

Having the ability to decide the number of performing jobs and students to take, a freelance musician can define his work load, free time and salary. He has the freedom to choose what to do, but at the same time he has to stay alert in order to get enough work.
Many people find it difficult that in the service life of a musician one has to have an entrepreneurial attitude and skills. One has to advertise and sell his skills, find clients and retain the already existing clients.
Since the income of a freelance musician can be unstable, it can be difficult to find the golden path between working hours and leisure time. There is also the danger that a freelance musician gets overloaded with work when the demand is high
