Tänä päivänä nuorten syrjäytymisen ehkäisyyn kiinnitetään paljon huomiota. Valtiontalouden tarkastusviraston tutkimus on osoittanut että yhden nuoren syrjäytyminen maksaa yhteiskunnalle n. miljoona euroa, joten ennaltaehkäisevä työ nuorten parissa on tärkeää. Nuoren siirtyessä peruskoulusta toisen asteen ammatilliseen koulutukseen, eli niin sanotussa nivelvaiheessa, nuori tarvitsee riittävästi tukea. Nuoren syrjäytymisen ehkäisemisen kannalta on tärkeää että nuorelle on tarjota nivelvaiheessa hänen tarpeitaan vastaava koulutusmuoto.
Saarijärveltä ja lähiseudulta puuttuu nivelvaiheen koulutus kokonaan. Lähimmät ohjaavat ja valmistavat koulutukset eli ammattistartit sijaitsevat Jyväskylässä ja Ähtärissä. Tämän tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli selvittää onko Saarijärvellä tarvetta ammattistarttille nuorten ja nuoria ohjaavien tahojen mielestä, ja millainen koulutuksen tulee olla sisällöltään. Tavoitteena oli selvittää onko Saarijärven ja lähialueiden nykyinen koulutustarjonta riittävä, että nuori ei joudu syrjäytymisvaaraan. Työn tilaajataho on Visio-säätiö Saarijärvellä.
Tutkimusaineisto koostui Saarijärven keskuskoulun 7 - 9 –luokkaisten oppilaanohjaajalle, Saarijärven johtavalle työvoimaneuvojalle ja Ähtärin ammattistartin opettajalle tehdystä haastatteluista. Tutkimusaineistoa saatiin myös kyselytutkimuksesta ja ryhmätehtävästä, jotka tehtiin viidelle peruskoulun päättävälle oppilaalle Saarijärvellä sekä seitsemälle Ähtärin ammattistartin oppilaalle.
Tulokset osoittivat, että ammattistartille on tarvetta Saarijärvellä. Nuoren keskeyttäessä toisen asteen ammatillisen koulutuksen, tulee nuorelle olla heti koulutuspaikka, johon hän voi itse ohjautua, tai hänet voidaan ohjata. Ammattistartille on myös tarvetta peruskoulun päättymisen jälkeen, jos nuoren päättötodistuksen keskiarvo ei riitä halutulle alalle, tai nuori ei vielä tiedä mitä alaa hän haluaa opiskella. Sisällöltään ammattistartin tulee olle sellainen, että nuoren elämänhallinta- ja opiskelutaidot kehittyvät vuoden aikana, nuori saa korotettua peruskoulun päättötodistuksen numeroita sekä nuori saa mahdollisuuden tutustua useaan eri ammattialaan, jotta nuoren oma ala varmistuu.Today much attention is given to the prevention of the adolescents. The study of the State Audit Office has shown that the social exclusion of one adolescent costs the society about a million euros, so the preventive work among young people is important. When the young switches from the comprehensive school to the vocational second degree education, in so called transitional period, the young needs much support. From the point of view of the prevention of the social exclusion, it is important offer to the young, at the transitional period an education form, which corresponds his needs. The education in the transitional period is totally missing in Saarijärvi and in the neighbourhood. The nearest preparatory instruction and guidance for VET (vocational education and training) are located in Jyväskylä and in Ähtäri. The objective of this thesis was to clarify is the preparatory instruction and guidance for VET needed in Saarijärvi in the opinion of the young people and quarters who direct young people, and find out what kind of contents does the education consist of. The purpose was to find out, is the existing education in Saarijärvi and in the neighbourhood adequate, that there is not the danger of social exclusion. The order of this thesis is Visio-foundation in Saarijärvi.
The research material was consisted of the interview that was done to the pupil controller of Saarijärvi´s comprehensive school, Saarijärvi's leading labour adviser and the teacher of the preparatory instruction and guidance for VET in Ähtäri. The research material consisted of also from questionnaire survey and group work that was conducted to five school-leavers from comprehensive school in Saarijärvi and to the seven pupils of the Ähtäri´s preparatory instruction and guidance for VET. The answers indicated that the preparatory instruction and guidance for VET in Saarijärvi is needed. When a young will interrupt the vocational second degree education, the education place where the young can direct immediately by himself or where he can be directed, is needed.
The preparatory instruction and guidance for VET is also needed, if the desired field is not satisfied of the average of basic education certificate or the young does not know yet what field he wants to study. The contents the preparatory instruction and guidance for VET should consist of the life management and studying skills , the possibility to raise the numbers of basic education certificate, and the possibility to become acquainted with several separate trades so that the own field of the adolescent will ensure
