Ensiapukoulutuksen suunnittelu ja toteutus Maksjoen koulun opettajille sekä terveystorin koulutusmateriaaliksi

Opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli suunnitella ja toteuttaa ensiapukoulutustapahtuma Maksjoen ala-asteen opettajille. Koulutuksen tuotoksena syntynyttä diaesitystä voivat muut Laurean koulun oppilaat käyttää terveystorin koulutusmateriaalina, kun he kouluttavat muita työyhteisöjä.
Ensiapukoulutus tapahtui Maksjoen koululla maaliskuussa 2009 kahtena peräkkäisenä torstai-iltapäivänä. Ensiapukoulutuksen ensimmäisenä päivänä käytiin läpi lapsen ja aikuisen elvytyksen dia-esityksen ja käytännön harjoittelun avulla. Toisena koulutuspäivänä aiheina olivat diabetesta ja epilepsiaa sairastavan lapsen oireet ja ensiapu sekä tajuttoman autettavan kohtaaminen, kylkiasentoon kääntäminen ja hengityksen turvaaminen. Muut aiheet olivat verenvuotojen ja erilaisten nyrjähdysten ensiapu. Kouluikäisten tapaturmia sattuu eniten vapaa-ajalla, toiseksi eniten kouluajalla. Riskialteimpia tunteja ovat liikuntatunnit, tekstiili- ja tekninen työ, kotitaloustunnit ja fysiikan ja kemian tunnit.
Ensiapukoulutuksesta tehtiin lopuksi kysely osallistujille. Arviointikaavake sisälsi kysymyksiä teoriaosuudesta, käytännön harjoittelusta, etukäteisodotuksista koulutusta kohtaan. Tulosten mukaan yleisarvosana koko ensiapukoulutustapahtumasta oli hyvä. Vastaajat kertoivat saaneensa monipuolista tietoa asioista, joita koulussa saattaa tapahtua koulupäivän aikana. Käytännön harjoittelua koettiin olleen riittävästi. Ryhmän ollessa pieni keskustelua oli sopivasti ja tunnelma oli rentoutunut. Tämä tekemämme dia-esitys on erittäin hyvä pohja muiden työyhteisöjen opetusmateriaaliksi. Ennen koulutuksia on opetettavien aiheiden käypähoitosuositukset aina tarkistettava.
Opinnäytetyötä voidaan tulevaisuudessa hyödyntää sekä Laurea-ammattikorkeakoulun opiskelijoiden että muiden vastaavia ensiapukoulutustapahtumia järjestävien apuna, selkiyttämässä koulutuksen suunnittelua, organisointia ja toteuttamista. Opinnäytetyöstämme jää koululle kirjallinen opinnäytetyö sekä materiaali, jolla ala-asteen opettajat voivat kerrata ensiavun antamista.

Planning and implementation of first aid training for teachers at Maksjoki School and providing training material for Terveystori Health Services

The aim of this paper was to plan and implement first aid training for teachers at Maksjoki comprehensive school.
The slide show made from this training may be used by other students at Laurea as tutorial material via Terveystori, when they give first aid training in workplaces or for other groups.
Regarding the practical arrangements of the first aid training, an agreement was made with the principal of Maksjoki school and The Laurea University of Applied Sciences Lohja branch. The first aid training was held at Maksjoki school on two concurrent Thursday afternoons in March 2009. The subject of the first course day was resuscitation of children and adults, which was presented in a slide show and as practical exercises. The subjects of the second course day were symptoms of and first aid for children with diabetes or epilepsy, as well as how to help an unconscious person, turning her in recovery position on one side (lateral recumbent position) and securing her breathing. Other subjects dealt with in the training were first aid in cases of bleeding or sprain. First aid is frequently needed for these problems, and skills to deal with them should therefore be taught in all first aid training.
At the end of the first aid training, an enquiry form was given to be filled out by the participants. The form included questions about theory, practical exercises and the participants’ expectations of the course. According to the results received, the general evaluation of the first aid training was good. The participants answered having received many-sided information about things that may occur during a school day. They also felt that the training included enough practical exercises. As the number of participants was small, they had the opportunity to discuss all questions in a relaxed way. The slide show we made is a very good basic material for training in other workplaces. The Finnish Current Care Guidelines concerning topics included in training should always be checked before the training.
In future, this paper can be used as help by students at Laurea University of Applied Sciences as well as others who arrange first aid training, in order to clarify planning, organising and implementation of training. At the school, we will leave our written paper and material that the teachers may use to revise their first aid skills at Maksjoki comprehensive school.
