The assessment of the levels of Cadmium (Cd) and Lead (Pb) inborehole and well water samples in Wukari, North-eastern Nigeriais presented in this study. Densely populated areas within thetownship were selected for this study. Mean values (Pb, mg/L) of0.48 ± 0.02, 0.08±0.04, 0.46±0.41, 0.03 and 0.12±0.03 wererecorded in borehole samples and 1.08± 0.11, 0.44±0.3, 0.214±0.04and 0.12±0.03 in well water samples (excluding Mamara) forAmbassador(A), Old BB (B), Holy Spirit (H), Mission quarters (M)and Mamara (S) respectively. The mean levels of Cadmium (mg/L)found in borehole water samples were 0.015±0.005, 0.01,0.026±0.06 and 0.02 in Ambassador, Old BB, Holy Spirit andMamara areas respectively. Cadmium was not detected in allsamples analyzed in borehole water from Mission quarters. Forhand dug wells, mean levels were found as 0.10±0.01, 0.09±0.06,0.22±0.34 and 0.026±0.008 for Ambassador, Old BB, Holy Spiritand Mission quarters respectively. Results obtained werecompared with maximum permissible limits of WHO and indicatethat some of the borehole water samples in areas some areas onlymeet up to the allowable limits. Hand dug well were generallyfound in this study to contain higher levels of lead and cadmium inall study areas
