Woman - a created oppressor. Analysis of female characters on the basis of selected short stories by Stefan Grabiński

Abstract

Praca poświęcona została postaci kobiety w opowiadaniach "Namiętność", "Kochanka Szamoty" oraz "W przedziale" autorstwa Stefana Grabińskiego. Jej celem jest zwrócenie uwagi na mechanizmy i schematy patriarchalnego świata przełomu XIX i XX wieku, w którym kobieta pełni określoną społecznie rolę. W tekście omówione zostały sposoby kreowania wizerunku kobiety, jej funkcje w społeczeństwie oraz rodzaje emocji, które wywołuje u płci przeciwnej. Wnioski końcowe zostały wyciągnięte w oparciu o metodę psychoanalizy, której poddani zostali męscy bohaterowie opowiadań oraz sam autor.This thesis is devoted to the figure of a woman in the short stories 'Namiętność' (Passion), 'Kochanka Szamota' (The Shamrock Lover) and 'W przedziale' (In the Compartment) by Stefan Grabiński. It aims to draw attention to the mechanisms and patterns of the patriarchal world of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, in which women play a defined social role. The text discusses the ways in which a woman's image is created, her roles in society and the kinds of emotions she evokes in the opposite sex. The final conclusions are based on the method of psychoanalysis, to which the male protagonists of the stories and the author himself were subjected
