This paper intends to present and analyze the prospects and challenges to the guerrilla movement Paraguayan People Army (EPP) in its attempt to implement a socialist revolution in Paraguay. To that end, will be exposed and debated the Paraguayan State’s disabilities in promoting social change to cast the foundations to overcome the historical social imbalances, its maintenance with the advent of democracy in the 1990s, hampering the legitimacy and representativeness of the regime, and making that would foster the outbreak of the revolutionary movement, and later the guerrilla army of the XXI century. Through the Leninist contribution - foundation used by the EPP – we seek to understand the EPP action and thus analyze their chances of success as a revolutionary organization. Similarly, it is contemplated the challenges posed to the guerrilla action, in the domestic order of the organization, as well as the external order. Therefore, it is considered that the use of revolutionary violence will not achieve their goals, having the revolutionary class consciousness and mass democracy the central role in a socialist deployment process.O presente artigo intenta apresentar e analisar as perspectivas e desafios ao movimento guerrilheiro Ejército del Pueblo Paraguayo (EPP), em sua tentativa de implantação de uma revolução socialista no Paraguai. Para tanto, são expostas e debatidas as incapacidades do Estado paraguaio na promoção de mudanças sociais que lançassem as bases para a superação das históricas assimetrias sociais, sua manutenção com o advento da democracia na década de 1990, dificultando a legitimação e a representatividade do regime, e fazendo com que se fomentasse a eclosão do movimento revolucionário, e posteriormente da guerrilha armada do século XXI. Por meio do aporte leninista – fundamento utilizado pelo EPP – busca-se compreender a ação do EPP e consequentemente analisar suas possibilidades de êxito como organização revolucionária. Da mesma forma, contemplam-se os desafios postos à ação guerrilheira, tanto de ordem interna da organização, quanto de ordem externa. Por conseguinte, considera-se que a utilização da violência revolucionária não alcançará seus objetivos, cabendo à conscientização revolucionária de classe e à democracia de massas o papel central em um processo de implantação do socialismo
