The country and our university celebrated with the nation and so did the UAEU library. This edition of the library newsletter will cover some of those highlights. The major purposes of digitization are to enhance access and improve preservation of library materials. UAEU Libraries has started this service since 2014. The UAEU Libraries Deanship Digitization Unit offers the following Scanning services:  • Theses and dissertations: UAEU theses and dissertations are uploaded to UAEU Scholar works online website for global access through downloading and online reading. These materials are accessible worldwide. • Materials for special needs students: We do scan and type (Arabic scripts) for the UAE University special needs students’ books and other learning materials. • Faculty members: Similar scanning services is provided to UAE University faculty members' books and other teaching materials. • UAE Institutions/community: The same scanning benefit is extended to UAE higher educational institutions such as Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT), Presidential Affairs, the Police Department, Zayed University, and National Medical Library and so on. This paper provides the background to this implementation of 3D printing as a library service offered by the library and discusses and how the UAEU libraries managed 3D printing services to support more than 240 to 500 student projects. At the end of the initial three-semester-long project, the volume of projects from the Mechanical engineering students only increased from 240 to 500 per year.  Uses of 3D printing at UAEU libraries can be grouped as follows: A. Engineering Applications,     B. Medical Applications   C. Arabic and Islamic Calligraphy        D. Wolieed Digitization Technician        Libraries Digitization Department Issue 2, December 2021 3D PRINTING APPLICATION CHALLENGES: 3D printing has many benefits including its contribution to flexibility in design, customization and rapid prototyping and manufacturing. However, there are some challenges that need to be understood and addressed through research and technological development. E. Intellectual Property     6                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     Recently, a collection of interesting printed books issued by the AlRamsa Institute has joined the Emirates collection in the UAEU Libraries. They are all new, and their release period ranges between 2020 and 2021. Topics revolve around learning the Emirati accent in the Arabic language. It includes three educational levels;  1. Emirati Arabic: First level  2. Emirati Arabic: Second level  3. Emirati Arabic: Third level.  As for the rest of the group, its titles: One phrase per day: 365 Emirati Arabic phrases, Talk to me in Emirati Arabic: Ramissnee bil emirati and 700 Phrases & Questions.  AlRamsa is an Emirati institute and it accredited educational organization by the Knowledge & Human Development Authority, Dubai Government. New Print Books Issue 2, December 2021     7                                                          Issue 2, December 2021 The new Sheikh Zayed Platform  In the evening of the 2nd of Dec 2021, to commemorate the national celebrations for the UAE 50th Jubilee.  The new Sheikh Zayed Platform was officially launched in UAEU Library that now has a special collection of works pertaining to the history of Sheikh Zayed. The launch took place in the presence of the Chancellor of the United Arab Emirates University, HE Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh and Libraries Director, Dr. Hamad Bin Seray. along with other dignitaries HE Dr. Maitha bint Salem Al Shamsi Minister of State and presence of senior officials of the city of Al Ain like Sheikh Mohammed bin Rakad and university employees.  Latest Library News!! Libraries National Day Celebrations   Libraries Deanship of UAEU celebrated the National Day with a display of several historical themed events like, traditional sittings and furniture an exhibition of toys, and other heritage pieces that included an amazing collection of jewelry, and “Dhaka Altayben” a display of a modelled stall all with the olden day merchandise. In addition, there was plenty of traditional food accompanied by the music of traditional national songs. The library's activities had resonated with the activities and events happening across the whole university.     8                    Latest Library News!!  Issue 2, December 2021 The Libraries Deanships End of Year Ceremony The Deanship of Libraries organized an end of year award ceremony and lunch for all library staff in recognition for their hard and great efforts throughout 2021. Awards were present by Dr Hamda Bi Saray.
