Abstract

Schizophrenia is a chronic psychiatric illness in the human mind that can interfere interpersonal relationships and the ability to survive. Based on WHO (2012), about 24 million people worldwide diagnosed schizophrenia where more than 50% not receive appropriate treatment and in developing countries, 90% this disease untreated. This research aims to know the effect of fish oil as adjuvant therapy based on PANSS in Installation Inpatient of Hospital Grhasia Yogyakarta. The study was performed against 44 patients that divide in 2 groups which are the control group and treatment group. The treatment group was given fish oil 1200 mg twice daily. PANSS assessment carried out at the beginning of and the last day of hospitalization. Then the difference score PANSS will be compared to each group using t-test independent. The results of study showed that mean difference of score PANSS, positive scale, negative scale, and general psychopathology scale calculated manually and compare with t tables to one tail (1,68) obtain t calculate is 1,88
