This initiative is in accord withits new four-year strategic plan 1.IAHR’S FORTHCOMING SERIESOF MONOGRAPHSThe new monograph series aims to bridge knowledge gaps,summarize existing knowledge, and disseminate recent advancesin technologies and methods. Additionally, the monographswill succinctly present information on physical processes,measurement techniques, theoretical material, numericalmodeling techniques, engineering applications, and historicaland cultural matters in an appealing manner. IAHR intendsthat the monographs help people readily understand currentand emerging concepts regarding focused topics.The new series of monographs is now underway with sevenselected promising editions:• Artificial intelligence in hydroinformatics• Bed shear stress in fluvial environments• Ice issues at dams• The lattice-Boltzmann method for hydraulic applications• Hydraulic design guidance in a changing climate• Measurement of gravel bedload in wadeable mountainstreams• Variational waves1 |  2021 NEW IAHR PUBLICATIONSBy Damien VioleauMonograph publication will begin no later than 2022 and willstart off with some more ‘traditional’ shaped text publications,but there is strong desire to explore if other forms of publication,such as a more web-based or interactive digital style are possi-ble too to convene the knowledge transfer that is desired byIAHR’s members and people beyond IAHR. Publications, there-fore, will use a digital format rather than paper-print, in orderfor IAHR members to freely access these publications fromIAHR’s website. IAHR hopes this arrangement will significantlyincrease monograph accessibility and readership and substan-tially promote recognition of the monographs’ authors. IAHR’smany technical committees will be glad to consider additionaltopics for monographs.
