Abstract
En aquest article s'analitza la relació de Salvador Espriu amb els estudis del
Pròxim Orient Antic a Catalunya. Els principals objectius són estudiar l'origen
de l'interès d'Espriu per l'orientalisme antic, la seva relació amb la Bíblia i l'Antic
Israel, i les causes del fracàs de la seva vocació per l'egiptologia. Finalment,
portem a terme una anàlisi historiogràfica de la seva contribució a Tiempos Antiguos.This paper analyses the relationship between Salvador Espriu and Ancient
Near Eastern Studies in Catalonia. The main aims of this work are to study
the origins of Esprius interest in the Ancient Near East, his relationship with
the Bible and Ancient Israel and the reasons for the failure of his Egyptological
ambitions. Finally we provide a historiographical analysis of his contribution to Tiempos Antiguos
