SUMMARY: Aim of the present study was to investigate the possibility to breed meat rabbits in a housing system different from cages. Thus, the effects of group housing, litter and its kind (straw or wood shavings), and animals density (8 o 16/m2) on health, performances and carcass traits were evaluated.
