"Third Realm" in Chengdu at the End of Qing Dynasty to the Beginning of the Republic of China

Abstract

在现代城市管理体制建立以前,传统的中国城市中一直存在着国家认可、社会参与的“第三领域“。“第三领域“力量深入到城市运转的各个方面,它集中体现了国家、社会组织和城市运转模式三者之间的关系。成都城市内在运转模式在清末民初发生了重要的转变,在近代国家政权的建设过程中,国家力量强势进入“第三领域“,但是由于缺乏对传统模式的合理运用,城市在向现代化转型的过程中出现了不少问题。Before the modern city management system has been established,the " Third Realm",which was allowed by the government and participated by the society,had always existed in the traditional Chinese city.It involves in most aspects of the city and reflects the relationship among the state,social organization and operation mode of the city.In Chengdu,city internal operation mode has made an important change at the end of the late Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China.In building the state political power,national power penetrated into the " third realm" with a striking force and in this modernization process of city,many problems have been caused,due to the lack of rational employment of traditional mode
