Determination of Fluoranthene Adsorbed on the Surfaces of Mangrove Leaves by Fiber Optical Fluorimetry

Abstract

A fiber optical fluorimetry for determination of fluoranthene(Fla) adsorbed onto the surface of five kinds of mangrove leaves was established.Experimental results showed that the linear dynamic ranges for determination of Fla adsorbed onto Avicennia marina(Am),Excoecarla agallocha(Ea),Kandelia candel(Kc),Aegiceras corniculatum(Ac) and Acanthus ilicifolius(Ai) leaves were 2.5-500,2.0-600,4.5-1 100,15-600 and 3.5-450 ng/spot,with detection limits of 0.91,0.63,1.12,3.52 and 1.40 ng/spot,respectively.The relative standard deviations were less than 7.8%(n=15).The experimental recoveries for Fla adsorbed onto Am,Ea,Kc,Ac and Ai leaves were 97%-108%,78%-95%,77%-90%,84%-108% and 78%-102%,respectively.The variation of fluorescence signals of different amounts of Fla adsorbed onto upper and lower surface of five kinds of mangrove leaves with time were also investigated. The results showed that fluorescence intensities of Fla adsorbed onto two surfaces of mangrove leaves were decreased differently in 200 min,and the fluorescence decrements of Fla adsorbed onto lower surface were all bigger than those from the corresponding upper surface. Both of upper and lower surfaces of the five mangrove species showed different capacities to adsorb Fla.Most of Fla adsorbed on the upper surface of mangrove leaves were remained, while some of the Fla adsorbed onto the lower surface of leaves could be penetrated easily into the inner sides of mangrove leaves.
