V magistrskem delu preverimo kakovost angleških prevodov spletnih mest štirih največjih slovenskih mest. Najprej opredelimo lokalizacijo, elemente spletnega mesta, jezik turizma in pogoste napake pri prevajanju turističnih besedil. Sledi primerjalna analiza slovenskih in angleških različic spletnih mest z ozirom na lokalizacijo in prevajanje. Ogledamo si domače strani in nekaj izbranih podstrani ter se pri tem osredotočimo na prevajanje zemljepisnih imen in prilagoditev ločil, enot, valut in drugih kulturnospecifičnih izrazov. Zatem analiziramo izbrana besedila še z vidika slovničnih, leksikalnih in sintaktičnih napak. Kljub predvidevanju, da spletna mesta niso ustrezno vsebinsko prilagojena, ob analizi ugotovimo, da je njihova vsebina že v osnovi precej nevtralna in ne vsebuje različnih političnih, verskih in drugih referenc, ki bi bile razumljive le v slovenskem okolju. Ob analizi prevajanja pa smo kljub vsemu dokaj presenečeni nad visoko kakovostjo angleških prevodov in majhnim številom skladenjskih napak v primerjavi s črkovalnimi in leksikalnimi.This thesis investigates the quality of English translations of Slovenian tourist information center websites of the four largest towns in Slovenia. First, it presents formal definitions for localization, website elements, the language of tourism, and common mistakes in translations of tourist texts. This is followed by a comparative analysis of the Slovenian and English versions, with regard to localization and translation. It examines website homepages and a few other selected webpages, and focuses on the translation of various place names, punctuation, measurement units, currencies, and other culture-specific terms. Attention is then shifted to grammar, lexis, and syntax mistakes. It was hypothesized that the content of the websites analyzed would not be sufficiently adapted to foreign readershowever, it was found that the content is quite neutral to begin with and does not contain various political, religious, or other references, which only a local reader would understand. There was also a surprisingly high quality of the English translations and a surprisingly small number of syntactic mistakes, compared to a fairly high number of spelling and lexical errors
