A microcomputer system for target information in the fire support coordination center: a data base approach

Abstract

This thesis presents the specification, design and implementation of a prototype microcomputer system for the target information section of the Marine Corps fire support coordination center. Currently, the target information section uses a series of index cards, handwritten lists, acetate covered battle maps and grease pencils to perform the target information functions. The thesis examines and analyzes these functions in detail and proposes a solution in the form of a system, data base and interactive user design. The resultant Microcomputer System for Target Information (MISTI) employs an ALTOS Z-80 microcomputer, the UCSD Pascal operating system, a user friendly interface, and data base technology. It is proposed as an interim system until the Marine Integrated Fire and Air Support System (MIFASS) becomes operational.http://archive.org/details/microcomputersys00coulLieutenant Colonel, United States Marine CorpsApproved for public release; distribution is unlimited
