To identify these lesions better, the Bcl-2 marker expression in different cell layers was studied. Materials and methods:  This descriptive study was done on 36 paraffin-embeded samples of patients who had odontogenic keratocyst (OKC), dentigerous cysts (DC) and solid ameloblastoma (SA), which was taken from the Department of Pathology, Dentistry School of Qazvin and Tehran by using immunohistochemical of Bcl-2 marker. The amount of the expression of this marker in the cells was calculated as percentage in two distinct areas of epithelium and their total was calculated (Stained cells / 100 cells in a hot spot fields). Data were analyzed by SPSS software. Results: 44.4% of the samples were men and 55.6% were women. The average age of patients was 36±15.9 years old and the 20-29 year- old samples had the highest frequency. Bcl-2 marker expressions in the basal layer of odontogenic keratocyst, dentigerous cysts and ameloblastoma were 88.07, 94 and 88.5 percent respectively. Bcl-2 marker expression in the basal layer of lesions had no significant difference (P=0.566). Bcl-2 marker expression in supra basal of three different lesions had significant difference (P=0.022) Correlation between Bcl-2 expression was not significant with sex and age of patients (P>0.05).  Conclusions: Bcl-2 expressions in the basal and supra basal cells were  higher than 50% in most patients. This feature can lead to impaired cell cycle and survival of epithelial cells that explain the aggressive behavior of odontogenic keratocyst.
