In addition to the HABforecasting, PRIMROSE will investigate forecasts models formicrobial contamination. Reporting procedures will bestandardised, and partly automated for an expert evaluator tohave information available to make an accurate forecast.Why?The aquaculture sector on Europe’s Atlantic Arc is negativelyaffected by of harmful algal blooms (HABs) and microbialpathogens. PRIMROSE partners in this region (Fig. 1) will takeexisting information from monitoring programmes investigatingthe presence of microscopic algae, shellfish biotoxins, otherHAB events, microbial pathogens, such as E. coli or norovirusand other physical and modelled data to generate short termforecasts across the EU Atlantic Arc region.Different sectors have different requirements and expectationsfor this forecast, and can provide different information and datastreams that will be processed to generate the forecast (Fig 2).Summary of Work packages1. Project CapitalizationThrough an Exploitation Management exercise all avenues fora successful capitalization on the outputs of PRIMROSE will beidentified.4. Predictive Capacity AdvancementThe development of a web portal system will provide a jointfront end for transnational forecasts of harmful events.5. Implementation and EfficiencyEvolving the forecast system to an optimum service throughgenerating improved and standardised graphical elements willcut production time.6. Transnational activityThe forecasting system will be an inter-regional effort, sent toparticipating individuals EU wide via the web portal.7.
