Abstract

"This study addresses the experience and views of those engaged with social work services, with the intention of providing insight into how they perceived the notion of resistance. It proved a contentious topic for the families but the nature of the barriers which for them lay behind the development of reluctance or resistance is explored through their own words. It was possible to identify those who felt misunderstood, those in fear of authority and whose previous experience had led to mistrust." - preface
