Communication of diagnosis when the pathology does not present major risks for the patient’s life is welcomed by the doctors. Things become more complicated when we speak about terminally ill patients. In the national healthcare system cases when doctors do not tell the patient any negative information are frequently met. In the present article the author tried to make a critical analysis of dilemma of communication-miscommunication of lethal diagnosis from the perspective of three fundamental ethics conceptions: Aristotle theory of virtues, Utilitarian theory and the Im. Kant deontological theory. It is proposed a positive approach of the relationship doctor-patient excluding communication conflicts existing and dilemma between “principle of sacral lie” and “justified medical truth”.Informarea pacientului cu privire la diagnostic, tratament, riscuri şi beneficii sînt acţiuni integrate în practica medicală şi devin imperative de cel puţin ultimele cîteva decenii. Comunicarea diagnosticului cînd patologia nu prezintă riscuri iminente pentru viaţă este considerată salutabilă de către medici. Lucrurile însă se complică cînd este vorba de pacienţii terminali. În sistemul de sănătate autohton se atestă frecvent cazuri de ezitare din partea medicilor în enunţarea informaţiei negative pacientului. În articolul dat s-a încercat analiza critică a dilemei comunicării-necomunicării diagnosticului letal din perspectiva a trei concepţii etice fundamentale: teoria aristotelică a virtuţii, teoria utilitaristă şi teoria deontologică a lui Im. Kant. Se propune o abordare pozitivă a relaţiei medic şi pacient cu excluderea conflictelor de comunicare existente astăzi şi a dilemei dintre „principiul minciunii sacre” şi a „adevărului medical justificat”
