Abstract

The increase in the standard of living of humans always has an impact on changes in their lifestyle, including in choosing food. The choice of food consisting of healthy and natural foods is now shifting to foods that are high in carbohydrates, fat and protein. The number of cases of degenerative diseases and metabolic syndrome is the highest mortality factor today. This study aims to determine the relationship between fat intake and HDL and LDL levels in women giving birth in the community. This research was conducted at the Kartika Chandra Kirana Islamic Boarding School, Bukit Barisan, Galang District, which was carried out in 2019. This study was an observational study with a cross sectional design. The population is all mothers who live in boarding houses, the sample is a population that has a BMI 25.0 kg/m2. Based on statistical tests, it shows that there is no relationship between fat intake and HDL levels in pregnant women with p-value 0.515 and r-value = 0.092 and there is a significant relationship between fat intake and LDL levels with p-value = 0.0001 and r-value = 0.962, and a positive correlation means that the higher the fat intake, the higher the blood LDL level
