Fictions of animality in Latin America: the animal forms on literature and visual arts

Abstract

Este ensayo pretende desarrollar una breve geografía textual latinoamericana a partir de los estudios de la forma animal. Analizaremos textos e imágenes a partir de los estudios de Adolf Portmann ("La forma animal"), cruzándolos con aspectos de la imaginación zoológica de Jorge Luis Borges, hasta llegar a las obras de un conjunto de autores latinoamericanos: Diego Vecchio, Mario Bellatin, Nuno Ramos y Carlito Azevedo.This essay aims to develop a brief Latin American textual geography based on the studies of the animal form. We will analyze texts from the studies of Adolf Portmann ("The animal form"), crossing them with aspects of the zoological imagination of Jorge Luis Borges, until arriving at the works of a group of Latin American authors: Diego Vecchio, Mario Bellatin, Nuno Ramos and Carlito Azevedo
