As a precursor to this event, the United Nations, in 1994, organized an International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) in Cairo, Egypt, that led to a more holistic definition of SRHR from the narrow perspective of population control1. The aftermath of the ICPD conference included increased research activities, provision of new health services, and development of new tools to assess SRHR programmes and services1. The African continent featured prominently in assenting to the programme of action of the ICPD because it was evident that a clear pathway for Africa’s development was in prioritizing the SRHR of all persons, especially women. Since then, the AJRH has become the major platform to showcase the scholarly work of scientists working in the field of SRHR in Africa and beyond. Our previous editorials have chronicled the evolution and global research of the AJRH2,3,4. Starting with two editions per year, the scientific output of the journal increased from three editions per year in 2002 to four in 2009 and six in 2021. Today, the AJRH is indexed in the most prestigious bibliometric databases - PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar, ResearchGate, African Journals Online, Journal Storage, Southern African Bibliographic Information Network, and Bioline International. The global reach and scientific impact of the AJRH have also surged. For example, in 2019, the H-index for the SCImago Journal Ranking was 34 but increased to 38 in 20215. In the Scopus database, AJRH currently ranks second in Africa under the “Medicine” subject area and within the “Obstetrics and Gynaecology” subject category6 and ranked 110 out of 185 in the world in 2019 under the same subject area and subject category7. Other bibliometric indices revealed that while self-citations have remained minimal, total citations have increased steadily for the journal. A similar trend is seen with external cites per document5. The metrics on SCImago also indicate an increase in the number of citable articles, reflecting the number of substantial research articles published in the journal. Another exciting metric in which AJRH has shown improvement is the percentage of international collaboration, which has increased significantly in the last three years5. Given that the AJRH is a principal player in disseminating SRHR research outcomes in Africa, there is room for improvement. In addition to the above bibliometric indices, most prestigious journals publish their acceptance rate (AR) on their website. Acceptance rate (AR) is the ratio of the number of manuscripts accepted to the number of articles processed in a year. Articles not reviewed and those withdrawn are typically not included in the calculation8. AR is an internal quality control benchmark monitored as a proxy of the size9, selectivity, and prestige of a journal10. In this era of open access publishing and the long-term commitment of the AJRH to excellence and transparency, we have decided to publish the recent AR for the journal (Table 1). We will subsequently annually publish this data to inform our readership. The steady and sustained growth in the impact of AJRH is due to the founding principles of the journal, which favours a multidisciplinary and holistic approach to disseminating SRHR research. Articles covering basic medical and clinical research, social and legal including a traditional outlook to SRHR, and indeed quantitative and qualitative studies, in addition to editorials, commentaries, review articles, case reports, have over the years increased. For more than two decades, the AJRH has published findings on the context of SRHR, including challenges to improve RH indices in Africa. We have paid particular attention to studies that champion the reduction of maternal mortality rate, improving contraceptive uptake, highlighting the dangers of female genital cutting, improving access to skilled birth attendance, and those that disseminate                         empirical information on the status of SRHR as part of    Omonkhua et al. Findings from these studies have played essential roles in informing policy and practice for SRHR in Africa. In the future, AJRH particularly welcomes articles on systematic review, meta-analysis, and interventional studies. We would also maintain our commitment to open access policy and improve our lay and social media coverage. The AJRH team is excited and committed to the journey of continued dissemination of SRHR outcomes in Africa. En guise de précurseur à cet événement, les Nations Unies, en 1994, ont organisé une Conférence internationale sur la population et le développement (CIPD) au Caire, en Égypte, qui a conduit à une définition plus holistique de la SDSR du point de vue étroit du contrôle de la population1. Les suites de la conférence de la CIPD ont inclus des activités de recherche accrues, la fourniture de nouveaux services de santé et le développement de nouveaux                                  outils pour évaluer les programmes et services de SDSR1. Le continent africain a joué un rôle de premier plan dans l’adhésion au programme d’action de la CIPD car il était évident qu’une voie claire pour le développement de l’Afrique consistait à donner la priorité à la SDSR de toutes les personnes, en particulier des femmes. Depuis lors, la RASR est devenue la principale plate-forme pour présenter les travaux universitaires des scientifiques travaillant dans le domaine de la SDSR en Afrique et au-delà. Nos précédents éditoriaux ont fait la chronique de l'évolution et de la recherche globale de la RASR 2,3,4. À partir de deux éditions par an, la production scientifique de la revue est passée de trois éditions par an en 2002 à quatre en 2009 et six en 2021. Aujourd'hui, la RASR est indexée dans les bases de données bibliométriques les plus prestigieuses - PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar, ResearchGate, African Journals Online, Journal Storage, Southern African Bibliographic Information Network et Bioline International. La portée mondiale et l'impact scientifique de la RASR ont également augmenté. Par exemple, en 2019, l'indice H du classement SCImago Journal était de 34 mais est passé à 38 en 20215. Dans la base de données Scopus, RASR occupe actuellement la deuxième place en Afrique dans le domaine Médecine et dans la catégorie Obstétrique et gynécologie6, et classée 110 sur 185 dans le monde en 2019 dans le même domaine et la même catégorie de matières7.  D'autres indices bibliométriques ont révélé que si les auto-citations sont restées minimes, le nombre total de citations a augmenté régulièrement pour la revue. Une tendance similaire est observée avec les citations externes par document.5 Les métriques sur SCImago indiquent également une augmentation du nombre d'articles à citer, reflétant le nombre d'articles de recherche substantiels publiés dans la revue. Une autre mesure passionnante dans laquelle RASR a montré une amélioration est le pourcentage de collaboration internationale, qui a considérablement augmenté au cours des trois dernières années5. Étant donné que la RASR est un acteur principal dans la diffusion des résultats de la recherche sur la SDSR en Afrique, il y a place à amélioration. En plus des index bibliométriques ci-dessus, la plupart des revues prestigieuses publient leur taux d'acceptation (RA) sur leur site Web. Le taux d'acceptation (RA) est le rapport entre le nombre de manuscrits acceptés et le nombre d'articles traités en un an. Les articles non examinés et ceux retirés ne sont généralement pas inclus dans le calcul8. - engagement à terme de l'AJRH pour l'excellence et la transparence, nous avons décidé de publier le récent RA de la revue (Tableau 1). Nous publierons ensuite annuellement ces données pour informer notre lectorat. La croissance régulière et soutenue de l'impact de la RASR est due aux principes fondateurs de la revue, qui favorise une approche multidisciplinaire et holistique de la diffusion de la recherche sur la SDSR. Les articles couvrant la recherche médicale et clinique fondamentale,  sociale   et   juridique,  y   compris   une  Omonkhua et al. Depuis plus de deux décennies, la RASR a publié des résultats sur le contexte de la SDSR, y compris les défis pour améliorer les indices de SR en Afrique. Nous avons accordé une attention particulière aux études qui prônent la réduction du taux de mortalité maternelle, améliorent l'utilisation de la contraception, soulignent les dangers de l'excision génitale féminine, améliorent l'accès à des accouchements qualifiés, et celles qui diffusent des informations empiriques sur l'état de la SDSR dans le cadre de la réalisation des objectifs de développement durable sur le continent. Les résultats de ces études ont joué un rôle essentiel dans l’information des politiques et des pratiques en matière de SDSR en Afrique. À l'avenir, la RASR accueille particulièrement les articles sur la revue systématique, la méta-analyse et les études interventionnelles. Nous maintiendrions également notre engagement à l'égard de la politique d'accès ouvert et améliorerions notre couverture médiatique profane et sociale. L'équipe RASR est enthousiasmée et engagée dans le voyage de diffusion continue des résultats de la SDSR en Afrique.
