Your experience during COVID-19:  Diary Entries from the beginning of COVID 19 March 8, 2020 Finals week was cancelled because of coronovirus, so now my chem final is 5 days sooner. Ima fail that. Even he will have 3 days less to teach. I think we are all going to do terribly. But hey, I guess it’s better than dying of coronovirus. Tbh, I’ve never seen such a scare over something like this before. My chem teacher’s science meeting thing in Denver was cancelled because of it. Now our finals week is too. I’m nervous. This is our last week. But oh well. I’ll give it my best shot and drink redbulls and coffee to get through the week. I guess coronavirus is like the flu, but a bit worse and mostly only kills older ppl w/health problems. They’re scared of it cuz apparently it's a new virus that recently jumped from bats to ppl. So most ppl obviously have no immunity to it. Ppl are freaking out and finals got cancelled. It stresses me out. I think a lot of people will do badly on that test. Like I said though, I’ll try my best. What else am I supposed to do? I bought my mom some sandals for her B-day. I'm going to try to visit her during spring break. For now, I think I need to go to bed. There’s so much to do. Bills, HW, study, projects, work, sleep…   March 15, 2020  The last time I wrote here, I thought it was overkill for the school to cancel finals week over coronavirus. I never thought that a few days later, people would cancel the rest of the academic year. Like, I have online classes now! All classes at EWU will be online spring quarter. And if we have labs, they need to be 25 students or less and we have to stand 6 feet apart. And I thought it was overkill when EWU decided to do that. Then like 2 days later, the governor Jay Inslee decided to close all public schools k-12 for a month over the corona virus. I’ve never seen this happen in my life. I always wondered if I’d see anything like this in my lifetime and here it is. I remember first reading about it on facebook in late January and thought it was some foreign problem. I mean, yeah it was awful. But I didn’t think it would spread. It’s like when ebola happened in Africa when I was in highschool. I never thought this thing would affect so much stuff. And for some reason everybody is buying toilet paper. It’s a meme, but seriously. If you go to any store right now, there is no toilet paper or cleaning supplies. Yesterday Spokane had its first case of coronavirus. Three people tested positive. I think it's something we will all get eventually, but they say it has a death rate of about 2% which is really high honestly. Mostly cuz of the elderly tbh. I think most of the deaths have been ppl 70+ years old. But it still sucks. They have also ordered the cancelation of all events 250+. So no NBA. They cancelled March Madness. And nobody’s going out to restaurants or movie theaters so businesses are losing money. And since nobody’s traveling, you can buy a roundtrip plane for $65 to Las Vegas. It’s insane. At my job, we cancelled all April trips and are doing refunds so it's lost money and we aren’t going to be open at the URC so ppl can’t go to the gym. Italy and Spain quarantined themselves. It's wack. I hope this whole thing blows over soon. I think we’ve had quite an alarm at this point. Anyway, I still have to take my chem final today. It's on Canvas. I’m nervous about it, but I’ll try my best. Gunna study a little more before I take it. After this, I basically have spring break for 2 weeks. I want to go out, but I’m kinda nervous about actually getting coronavirus cuz then they make you quarantine for 2 weeks and there goes my spring break. Anyway, yeah, ppl are freaking out but hopefully it all gets better in the coming weeks. I’m gonna go study now. Massive headache.
